Gabriel's Story
I graduated Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, TX. in 1981 then attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. for two years. I then joined the Air Force to see the world and was stationed at Kelly AFB, San Antonio, TX. While there I married Jeanne M. Bemrich on 8 Nov 1986, whose family was all in Texas and we had our first son Gabriel Thomas on 21 Mar 1987. So I applied for all five Air Force bases in San Antonio, and then Texas in general as my next assignment. The Air Force sent me to Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan. We were there from 1988 to 1992 and had our second son James Christopher on 29 May 1991. We were so pleased with the travel opportunities and sense of community at an overseas location that we applied for another overseas assignment. The Air Force sent us to Fairchild AFB near Spokane Washington. We were there from 1992 to 1998 and had our third son David Alexander on 5 Dec 1992. From there we did get to go to Rhein-Main AB Germany. We were there from 1998 to 2004. aska. I retired from the Air Force after 20 years in 2002 and went to work for the US Postal Service; and my oldest son Gabriel graduated from Danial J Gross High School. In 2004 Jeanne got a job at Yokosuka Navy Base, in Japan and Gabriel got a job with Blizzard in Austin. Our middle son James joined the Coast Guard and served for four years before deciding he didn’t like having some one else telling him what to do even when off duty. He is now a pirate near Virginia Beach. Our third son graduated from Kinick High school in 2010 then the Air Force Academy in 2014 and now flys the E-3 AWAC. Once the kids we’re out of the house (2010) we moved to Hawaii where I got a Bachelors of arts in Humanities from the University of Maryland University College and a Masters in Secondary Education from Chaminade University of Hawaii to get certified to teach science. After two years in 2014 Jeanne and I Moved to Wiesbaden Germany where I worked for the Department of Defense Education Activity as a substitute teacher. In 2018 we moved to Newnan Georgia for Jeanne’s next job in Peachtree-City. I still work as a sub for the Coweta County School District.
